"Ma took me to the Oregon Rats Rendezvous on April 1, 2000. She took Rikki and I and left Bella and Sammy at home. The rendezvous was 200 miles from our home which is in Everett, Washington, so we went the day before on March 31, and camped at the site for two nights.
The weather could not have been nicer. It was very nice on Friday and Saturday was outstanding, Ma got her nose sun burnt, hehehe. She didn't realize it was so sunny, that she was going to burn and because we were camping she didn't have the normal makeup that has sun screen in it. She sure did look funny for a few days.
There were a lot of Rats and Rat parents there. They came from Canada, Washington, and Oregon. I was a little shy at first, but after awhile I started to say hi to both the other Rats and Rat parents.
Boy did we have fun on Saturday, April 1, 2000, the day for all the events. I was in the puppy 6 months to one years old female. There were five of us and I came in second. Ma was so proud of me.
You can see my ribbons above. I got second in the conformation class and two green ribbons, one for being in the conformation and one for being in the fun match. Ma put me in the one that timed us as who could ran the best. I didn't do very well. I didn't know where Ma was and I didn't hear her call me, so I didn't run, but I got a ribbon anyway.
It sure was fun and I got to sleep in the tent with Ma on the air mattress and in the sleeping bags with Ma and Rikki. I loved it!!!!
Ma did get a little upset with me. You see I had to go potty a couple of times in the middle of the first night, and Ma forgot to zip the bottom of the door on the tent. Well I had to go out, but I didn't ask. I just went out to do what I had to and then came back to the tent. Well, that night nothing happened, but the next night Ma made sure the door was zip and it was a good thing, because coyotes came into the camp and I being a Rat would have gone after them and then I may not have be here to write this." -------Cilla
